Crystal Cave is a 25 ft canopy of diacrylic panels that reflect and transform light and color with the world's best backdrop; the New York City Skyline.
SOFTlab called it Crystal Horizon. EDGE named it Crystal Cave.
Permanent installation on the observation deck, completed June 2026. Crew of 4-8.
The structure is a packed cell geometry, a few hundred polyhedral cells, none of them the same shape. Parts arrived pre-cut. We assembled them with nuts, bolts and zip ties, working off rolling scaffold. Each cell got a perforated aluminum backing panel, an LED, and a dichroic face.
Because no two cells are the same, everything ran off the install map. Each cell had a labeled position. If one went in the wrong spot, we usually didn't find out until the faces went on and the geometry stopped lining up.
